On Layoffs, Loyalty, and the Power of Having a Plan
We’re told that layoffs aren’t supposed to be personal, yet, it always feels that way.
No matter how many headlines we scroll, when it hits your inbox—or someone you love’s—it cuts deep. Not because of the job title. But because of what it interrupts.
Security. Identity. Timing.
It makes you question: Was I prepared? Or was I just busy?
I’ve seen high performers operate with intensity, loyalty, and excellence—and still get blindsided.
Not because they didn’t work hard. But because they didn’t have a personal strategy.
No exit plan. No career strategy. No idea what they’d do next, if “next” showed up uninvited.
We tend to protect companies with better systems than we use to protect ourselves.
So if you’re reading this—employed, building, pivoting, somewhere in-between—consider this your reminder:
You don’t need a safety net. You need a structure.
Strategy isn’t panic. It’s peace.
Until next week,
